CyberData’s SIP Speaker with Talk-Back is a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE 802.3af/802.3at) and Voice-over-IP (VoIP) public address indoor speaker that easily connects into existing local area networks with a single Ethernet cable connection. The speaker is compatible with most IP PBX servers. The speaker plays multicast messages, independent of the SIP environment. Its small footprint and minimal depth allows the speaker to be discreetly mounted almost anywhere.
The Talk-Back feature, when enabled, provides full-duplex two-way conversations in indoor settings such as classrooms, offices, medical facilities and clinics. When used with the Remote Call Button, calls to a predetermined extension can be initiated from the room with the speaker. Alternatively, a call can be placed to the speaker to initiate either a page or two-way conversation. This feature also allows for speaker health check.

The SIP Speakers are all designed for a quieter environment such as a classroom, hallway, or an office. If you need a speaker for a high noise/harsh conditions environment such as a warehouse floor or a school field, we instead recommend the 011457 SIP IP66 Outdoor Horn. In the case of requiring two-way audio like our SIP Talk-Back Speaker provides, the CyberData Intercoms may be a better choice for a louder environment. Go to the Downloads tab, click on the serial number range matching your device and download the firmware compatible with it. To update the firmware, unzip the file and log in to the web GUI for the device you are trying to upgrade. Navigate to the Firmware tab and browse for the firmware file you just downloaded. Select and upload that file. Do not reboot, the device will do it for you. For more information, please check your product’s Operations Guide, also available under the Downloads tab.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are downgrading, please contact CyberData’s Technical Support Department first to ensure the device does not get damaged. We also recommend you export a copy of your current configuration BEFORE updating, should a loss of power or another issue occur that would potentially lose your settings.
CyberData VoIP products are compatible with IP-PBX servers that support standard SIP protocol. IP multicast is a technique for one-to-many communication over a local IP network. IGMP multicast is sent via UDP packets from a multicast server to a multicast receiver. This stream scales to a larger receiver population by not requiring prior knowledge of who or how many receivers there are. Multicast uses network infrastructure efficiently by requiring the source to send a packet only once, even if it needs to be delivered to many receivers. The network replicates the packet in order to reach multiple receivers only when necessary.
Multicast is a great alternative to SIP registration as it does not require that the recipient of the stream to register as an extension on an IP-PBX server.
